Deck cranes and offshore pedestal cranes require strong and reliable steel wire ropes which withstand even harsh maritime conditions. As salt water is very aggressive and corrosive, the hoist ropes for ship cranes are typically manufactured of galvanized wires. A plastic-coated steel core inside protects the rope core from internal corrosion, stabilizes the rope structure and prevents metal-to-metal contact within the rope.
