The application boom hoist rope on a vessel or an offshore rig demands wire ropes that brave the elements. The ropes need to have thick outer wires to provide a certain resistance against abrasion and corrosion. The lifetime of these types of rope is generally very long as such cranes are rarely used. The customer must rely on ropes that do the job whenever needed. A stable plastic layer around the steel core protects the rope from internal corrosion and seals in the lubricant.
